Advantages

• They can generate a huge amount of electricity in just a single location.

• Though exhaustible, they are easily available.

• Coal is a cost-effective resource.

• Power stations can be set up anywhere, with no specific type of location needed.

• Transportation of oil or gas to the power plants is an easy task with the help of pipes.

Disadvantages

• POLLUTION! A major disadvantage because they give out toxic gases, leading to the greenhouse effect and subsequently leading to global warming.

• Along with carbon dioxide, coal releases sulphur dioxide which contributes towards acid rain.

• Mining of coal results in destruction of surroundings.

• They are Exhaustible and Non-Renewable.
